Reno has long needed a birth center and we are working to help create one! 

Laws and regulations have made it difficult in the past to open a birth center, or obstetric center as Nevada has previously called them. However, during the 2021 Nevada legislative session, laws were changed to help ease the trouble with Nevada's restrictive obstetric center regulations. Creation and changes to birth center regulations are currently being made. We are working hard to help make birth centers a feasible option for providers to open and for our State's communities to access.

Our plan for The Oasis Birth and Wellness Center is to bring an open model freestanding birth center to the Reno community. An open model means that midwives from various practices, whether a CNM or a CPM, can apply for privileges to use the birth center for their clients' births, without needing to own the whole birth center themselves. The birth center will also support other community offerings like classes and group meetings. Several healthcare providers will keep offices at The Oasis. 

This will be a long term process. Funding and opening a birth center, especially in a state which previously has not had any, while regulations and licensure laws shift, will take some time and navigating. Please contact us for more details on how to help make The Oasis a reality!
